Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

{Link up with Carissa & check out her new blog look!}

(1) I am uber happy that my girl Heather finally decided to join the blog world! Yay! Check out her blog, Cheddar Heels, and give her a warm welcome!

(2) MOVIES: I saw Super 8 last week and it was SO GOOD!!! I definitely recommend seeing it! I saw Bad Teacher this past weekend and I do not recommend paying $10 to see it. It's funny and Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel are great but yeah....no bueno. I rented The Killers and it was entertaining as well as Just Go With It. Can you tell what I have been doing with all my free time?!

(3) Had a sushi date with my friend Jenny this weekend, a belated graduation celebration. It's the same sushi place I always talk about. I am obsessed. Raspberry Saketini, Edamame, Coconut Shrimp with Eel sauce...AMAZING. I switched it up a bit and got the drink special, it was a Peach Bellini but with sake and a hint of ginger! It did NOT disappoint.

 {sushi pop-oviedo}

(4) Found a new mixer for Rangtang! Ginger ale! I also introduced my mom to it. We kept it classy.

(5) I realized I haven't posted about my sweet Jax baby in awhile! He is the same ole crazy boy. I woke up this morning though, on the complete opposite side of my bed in an awkward position...while Jax was sprawled out looking all comfy on MY side. Lil terd. I don't know how he managed to that. Anyways, here are some sweet pictures of him (as if I don't already post enough) :

 {playing with his bones}

 {sitting on top of my momma so she will play with me}

(6) It's been real stormy here in FL. We need the rain though, too many fires. But I spent my weekend dodging the rain!!! It was crazy. This one was the worst, I was racing the storm back to my house from the gym before all hell let loose!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!

Cheddar Heels

Are You Prepared

...for the ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE?!

Crazy right? Let me explain before you go calling ME the crazy one.

Last night I finally decided to get my lazy butt to the gym!
{isn't it funny how hard it is to get there and then once you are there it feels so good, despite the pain?!}

While there I see this gentleman on the treadmill:

 {please excuse the poor quality for I was frightened and he was running very fast}

What is he wearing and why?!?!

I did some research this morning.

Apparently, he is preparing for the ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE.

Laugh all you want, but this is serious.

The Centers for Disease and Control has a Zombie Apocalypse Preparedness 101.

No I am not joking.

You might want to check it out.

On a completely different note...

Breaking The Ice Ice Baby

Perfectly imperfect Jenn
Link up HERE

I have some new followers so I thought this would be fun for y'all to know a lil bit more about me!

1) Tell one thing not many people know about you.
I like cupcakes. Oh wait... Hmm well I am 25 (1/2), I have money problems due to an obsession with fashion/shopping and therefore I live with my parents and have some debt.

2) If you HAD to change your first name, what would you change it to?
If I had to? Probably Makenzie or Isabella.

3) What are your 3 favorite songs of the moment?
Blake Shelton - Honey Bee
The Civil Wars - Barton Hollow
Pistol Annies - Hell on Heels

4) List 3 goals on your life's to-do list:
- Get a big girl job so I can pay off debt
-Get married
-Have or adopt children other than my furbaby

5) What is one of your favorite quotes?
I have WAY too many favorites! So I will share my current fave:
God doesn't give you the people you want, he gives you the people you need, to help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you, to make you into the person you were meant to be!
6) Fill in the blank:  If I had an extra 10 dollars to spend . . I would buy __________?
Fro-yo for me and a friend!

7) What’s your birth date?
July 15. It's coming up!!! Hint Hint. Wink Wink.

8) Do you have a hidden talent and if so what is it?
Baking cupcakes. Oh crap, that's not hidden anymore is it? I have always wanted to go to school to be a professional make up artist. I love make up and love making over others faces. Unless you smoke. That's just nasty. I had to make over some womens faces at Clinique and that was pure torture.

9) What do you think of when you hear the word "blue"?
Blueeeee Mooooon. Yes, I just serenaded you. Blue Moon is also a wonderful beer.

10) Finish this thought:  I need . . .
To use the restroom, seriously. This is really funny because Aly @ Analyze This answered the same thing. Drank too much coffee and water already!

YOUR TURN!

Banana Chip Muffins

I have this slight obsession with bananas and chocolate.

This recipe perfectly brings the two together.

And it's great if you have REALLY ripe bananas or if you have some frozen bananas that you need to use!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 large bananas, ripe or very ripe, mashed
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup buttermilk*
1 or 2 cups of chocolate chips

*Buttermilk: milk + 1 tbs white vinegar*

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 400F.

Grease or line 12 muffin cups (my batch made 20 muffins).

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs. Add mashed bananas and vanilla and beat until smooth.

Whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder and soda in separate bowl. Stir this mixture into the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Gently stir in the chocolate chips.

Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups or liners. Bake at 400 degrees for about 15-18min, or until tops are lightly brown. Cool muffins on rack for a few minutes (if they last that long).

Serve and enjoy with a glass of milk.

 {the chocolate chips sank to the bottom of the muffins}

Go bake you some, now!!!

RANGTANG!

I am not typically a liquor drinker.

Many reasons for this, but I will spare you the details.
My drinks of choice are usually wine and beer.

While in Georgia I was introduced to Three Olives Rangtang Vodka.

I am in love. It is SO so good!

Goes great with cream soda, or cranberry.

{side note: do not mix vodka with red bull}

Next time you are at the liquor store, grab a bottle!

If you have tried it, what have you mixed it with?!

UNDER GOD

I was listening to a morning radio show and they mentioned how NBC decided to LEAVE OUT 'under God' and 'indivisible' in the pledge of allegiance. I grew up saying those two. People are throwing a fit because of it and I believe they should! The radio station mentioned this video and it is so great. Talks about the meaning behind each of the statements. Take some time to listen to it.

God Bless America.

New Blog Feature

While riding in the car last weekend headed up to Georgia, I had much time to think (it's a 7hr drive). Mainly thoughts about the blog, where I want to see it go, new features, etc. Sooooo, I have decided to try a new blog feature. I normally don't blog on the weekends-I enjoy being somewhat technology free for 2 days-but this idea excited me TOO much to not do it.

So, without further ado...

Allow me to introduce Michabella's new Blog Feature...

THE DEETS: Each Sunday post your "Sunday Best" outfit and the details of what you are wearing, ie-where you got it from, brand, etc. AND include a scripture form the Bible that you love or heard at church that day OR if you aren't the church going type or can't think of a scripture, post your favorite quote! It's as simple and as fun as that!!

Let me know what you think about it!!

Link Up will start this Sunday, June 19. (Father's Day)

(I will tweet a reminder or two over the weekend, for those who follow me on Twitter.)

PS- Don't act like you're not impressed with my Photoshop skills. Kidding. I am probably the only one impressed by it. I am trying to learn/play around a bit more with it since I have the entire package on my computer, thanks to Full Sail.

Mumford & Sons

 +

I have been to some pretty awesome concerts this past year...

 +

Not one of those can compare to the Mumford & Sons concert. Every aspect of it was breath taking. First and foremost, Fox Theatre is BEAUTIFUL! Being surrounded by crazy fans jumping and clapping or knee slapping was surreal. My favorite songs were played making me one happy gal. Their new CD is going to be Amazing, as if I would expect anything less?! They performed two of their songs which made you feel like you were hanging out with them at a bar. No technology. Just them, their guitars, sexy voices, and barefoot. Yes, Marcus Mumford was barefoot.

 Mumford Lovers

I wasn't able to steal some real good pics from the show. Though, I found a girl who attended the same concert and took professional photos, so I am borrowing these pics below from Alisha McKellar Portrait Design.

Swoon. I really hope to see them in concert every chance possible.
Even if that means having to drive 7hrs again to see them!

EXTRAS:

  • You can catch them on VH1 Unplugged at 11pm on June 24th
  • Adam Levine loves Mumford & Sons according to this article in Rolling Stone:
"What albums are you currently obsessed with?
Mumford & Sons, along with the rest of the country. I haven't felt like a real music fan in a long time, but that record has made me a fan again. There's something so gripping about the way the lyrics are delivered—it's angsty and mad, but it's beautiful soul music. There's a song called "Timshel" that breaks my heart. Them selling records and Arcade Fire winning the Grammy restores my faith in music."

LOVE. What was your favorite concert??

FOODIE FUN!

Hey y'all!!! I am backkkkk!

Atlanta was great! I sure did eat some amazingly GREAT food!! So good it makes me wanna move there. Seriously. I stayed in Buckhead...which I completely fell in love with. SWOON!

Hope your not hungry because I am about to share some delicious pictures with ya!

Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of my favorite, the three amigo's appetizer {queso, guac, salsa + chips}. Seriously, the best guacamole and queso of your life!! It's obviously the poppin' place around Buckhead because it was a packed house! They are known for their taco's which were equally amazing and cheap and go fabulous with Dos Equis Lager! Score! There was also some wonderful entertainment, ie- people watching. Double score!

{Fiesta Chicken & Grilled Chicken tacos}

Top Chef's Richard Blais joint! OHHHH MYYYY GOSSHHH! What a treat for your taste buds! Very unique and definitely a place all should visit at least once.

The booths! So retro inside!

I got the Mushroom/Swiss Burger...the cheese was Swiss Foam! The fries were so so good!

Heather got the Pork Chorizo-love the presentation. The best was the cherry tomato salad!

They also had Dr. Pepper... in a glass bottle!!! #awesome

Okay, but REALLY the best was the Nutella & Roasted Marshmellow milkshake!!

I am craving one as I write this... #delivertoflplease

Inman Park's Best Kept Secret

Came here for brunch on Sunday and what a fabulous little place!!! I personally didn't like what I got but you can't go wrong with bottomless bellini's and mimosa's for $10!

I got an egg/tomato/bacon croissant sandwich!

With some yummy fruit!

 What I really should have gotten was the French Toast filled with peach creme. #ilovefrenchtoast

 Wipe the drool from your mouth.

Have you tried these places in ATL before?? If not, you should!

{Mumford & Sons post tomorrow!}
