His Mistresses

It's time to get real...

My husband has not one, but three mistresses. Yep, no sugar coating that.

He spends money on them, takes them on special dates, feeds them, loves on them, bathes them. It's pretty darn serious y'all. I've actually met all of them and well, they are pretty sweet.

Secretly, I want Sally. Technically, she is now mine.

What's yours is mine babe!! {insert evil laugh} I love marriage!

Is your man into his cars? If not, what is the hobby he spends time/money on?

Crazy Thing

After our hike last Friday, we went to get brunch at the famous Cinnamon's in Kailua. (Truth be told, the Hubs and I had no clue how awesome it was til we went on Yelp to find a place to eat. Thanks Yelp!) Nothing like stuffing your face after a hike, right?! Oh man, it was so good! It was a cheat meal for us both, for sure. The Hubs got the famous Red Velvet Pancakes and I am a sucker for French Toast on sweet bread. Both were phenomenal! And Cinnamon's Hawaiian Coffee... awesome. It wasn't your typical $2 coffee from IHOP y'all.

While we were waiting to be seated though, we wondered upstairs to a lil chocolate factory. Met the owner, totally a surfer dude, and he told us all about his adventures in learning to make chocolate. Hawaiian chocolate specifically. We got to try fresh cocoa beans straight from the oven. Then we got to have a sample of each bar he makes! Very different but so amazing. I haven't had a lick of chocolate in well, way too long.

So let's talk about this crazy thing...

I signed up for my second half marathon.

And I just started running again, after a long hiatus, last week.

Damn you, sugar high.

My first half marathon, this was pretty much the same scenario, minus the sugar high...I was just down right crazy. I also swore I wouldn't run another one. Ever. But you see... I need a goal, a motivator to make myself run. It's such a battle! A love-hate relationship. I also have it on my Hawaii Bucketlist to run a race here. So ya. Come September, my crazy ass will be running 13.1 miles. THIRTEEN POINT ONE. Maybe I should have read my first half marathon blog post before signing up. Agh! At least, I will be better prepared this time... hopefully!

If you follow me on IG I apologize in advance. You will probably be seeing a lot more running pictures. I have to keep myself accountable and motivated throughout this process! Thanks for not unfollowing me. xo

Are you a runner? Have you ever run a half marathon before?

Lanikai Pillbox Hike

It's so rare that the Hubby gets time off during the week. He got last Friday off so we decided to make the most of it. We hopped in the car and drove to the East Coast of Hawaii to hike the Lanikai Pillbox. It was rough terrain, very different for this Florida girl and the previous hikes we have done. I loved it!

These are apparently called 'pillboxes'. There are two on this hike, hence giving it it's name.

The Mokes

Over on this side if Bellows AFB and in the horizon on the left you can vaguely see another Hawaiian island, Molokai.

 Such a fascinating flower!

HOORAH

Did you know that today is Military Spouse Appreciation Day?

Being a newbie to the military life, I didn't know this day ever existed until last year, nor did I know what it would mean to be a military spouse and what an honor and privilege it is. Military spouses/girlfriends/fiancees are probably one of the toughest women you will meet and/or know. Love on them. Especially the ones whose husbands are deployed/deploying.

To all my Milspouses in blogland, THANK YOU!! Many of you have been there for me and have helped me transition into being a part of the military. Thank you so so much! I appreciate you!

If you know a Military Spouse or Girlfriend, please take the time to thank her for her service.
Take her out to lunch, send her a text or some flowers, give her a Starbucks gift card...

the cure

Clearly, I have failed at this whole 'Blog Every Day in May' fad. Oops. At least I can't say I didn't try... right?! I forgot how busy May was going to be and honestly, spending time with my husband and schoolwork are a bit of a priority this month and next.

The Army takes my husband away from me too much, but that is what I signed up for when I said 'I do'. As much as I hate it, I've gotten used to it and have learned to cope. Having the bed to myself isn't so bad after all. {hehe, I am still not used to having to share a bed with another human being.} I feel like I am somewhat of a pro to the cure to a lonely heart. Isak Dinesen said it best and when I am alone, one or all take place.

What is your cure?

Day Two: Cupcakes

As I mentioned in Day One, I had a cupcakery for awhile. {Taking a break til I get settled down somewhere somewhat permanent} I'd have to say I am pretty darn knowledgeable about baking cupcakes and running an in-home bakery. I've baked well over 1,000-2,000 cupcakes, possibly more, I am just guesstimating. I am not ashamed to admit that I am a cupcake snob. I won't eat a cupcake if I know it's come from a box. Oh and don't try to trick me... I know if it has been. {Funny side note- my friends will have parties and have cupcakes there. They always apologize to me because they have come from a box, lol.} I've also done my share of taste testing the 'popular cupcakes', let's just say Sprinkles is overrated. Ya, I said it. I appreciate a great cupcake, which is why I went on a mission to make the best. My cupcakes were made with the intention of the cake part tasting phenomenal {shocking right?!}, with just a dollop of frosting. SO often cupcakeries over do it on the amount of frosting to cover up the lack of quality cake part.

Try baking your cupcakes from scratch! It really is easier than you think!

TIPS:

-Use quality ingredients.
-Use an ice cream scooper to put the cupcake batter into the baking cups. It's the perfect amount.
-You must follow the directions to a T. Baking is not like cooking. Granted there are some recipes you can play around with.
-Keep your baking area sanitary! Especially if you are baking cupcakes for other people to eat.

That's all I can think of at this moment. All my other tips are for if you are planning to run your own bakery from home, and or bake more than 100 cupcakes at a time. Pretty sure most of you won't be doing that.  If you have any questions, I'd love to answer them for you.

SOML

{me and my sister}

Linking up with one of my favorites for the Blog Every Day in May Challenge!

Story of My Life in 250 Words or Less

I'm Michelle. I was born in July of 1985 in Oceanside, California. My parents divorced when I was about 2 years old. My biological father has never been a part of my life, and honestly, I am okay with that. My mother re-married to the man I have always called my father, he adopted my sister and I. A big blessing for our family. I also have two 'little' brothers. Above all else, I love Jesus. Most of my childhood was spent in Florida so I consider myself a Floridian. I was the rebel-trouble child of our family. I practically partied my life away after graduating high school and made a lot of bad decisions. I went through more hard times then I think most people endure, it's also made me who I am today. I never truly had a best friend growing up, just always a bunch of friends. I have horrible communication skills due to my childhood. It's affected everything and I never realized this til I got married. I am quiet and laid back. But I do stress myself out too easily. I have this strong connection with the beach, Cali girl at heart. I am a Kappa Delta lady, AOT. I had a cupcake business for about 6 months and I hope to pursue that again. It's still and always will be my dream job. I married the love of my life June 2, 2012. We currently live in Hawaii with our two fur-children, Jax and Jedi. I am happy and blessed.
