The Day I Died

Okay okay.

So maybe the title is a little bit (a lot) of an exaggeration.

Financial Peace University Update:

This week I cut up my credit cards.

GASP. SCREAM. CRY.

#DaveRamseyMadeMeDoIt

It took me a while to actually take the evil scissors and cut them into little tiny pieces.

{deep breaths michelle}

I did the major one Monday (easy because that one is maxed out) and two yesterday (the hardest).

It was a tough battle...with myself and the scissors.

{"Well I might need this or that. I'll keep it just in case. I am moving out, I might need apt decor. Etc...etc....etc."}

Odd how one can be so attached to plastic.

I felt like I lost my security blanket.

I know I will be happy for this moment looking back.

But it's tough. I am a shopaholic. I love fashion.

This is probably going to be the hardest thing for me to do. NOT SHOP.

And not going out to eat or buying my favorite $4.02 Starbucks drink.

Not treating myself to a new pair of shoes because I deserve it or because I am sad and boys suck.

I have cancelled my gym membership. I have learned to be okay with not getting pedicures/manicures.

I CAN DO THIS! ONE STEP CLOSER TO BEING CC DEBT FREE!

"Live like no one else so later you can LIVE LIKE NO ONE ELSE." -Dave Ramsey

{thanks for all the support. love y'all}

Good for you, girl! I bet that was so hard... but it'll be worth it in the end!

It will all be worth it in the end! I though I was going to DIE when I cut up my Angels VIP card to Victoria's Secret...It was black, and glittery, and gorgeous! But I survived! You have definitely motivated me, I can't wait to follow your progress! I hope I can get back on track soon!!

Wowzaz, I can't believe you cut them up! But..if you are in debt, that is probably a GREAT thing that you did!!!
I'm probably the complete opposite of you...I account for every single penny i spend and budget everything to make sure i can afford it and etc. Trust me, I buy new shoes every week, but I will cut back in other areas so that is available for me. Ya know?
Anyways...if you need budgeting or paying off debt advice, let me know! :)
Congrats on your big step!!

Good job!! I did Dave Ramsey FPU in April and we ended in July, but I'm going to sign up again for a session that starts in September. I love DR's slogan....Live like no one else, so later you can live like no one else. Love it!

GOOD LUCK!!

YAY! That was a huge step, so proud of you. Matt & I became debt free this year. I cut back on shopping and eating out. We now only buy things in cash or on our debt cards. it is seriously the BEST feeling in the world. You will be so proud of yourself when you accomplish it. happy to cheer you on :)

It's really hard giving up the creature comforts that we enjoy.... I stopped getting pedis too. Ugh! It's really nice to save for one though and splurge on a relaxing pedi a couple times a year or so! I also stopped buying so many Starbucks drinks. We didn't cut out Starbucks completely though, we just buy the bags from Target. I'm attempting cutting coupons, but I still don't know how to save the big bucks doing that. It's a learning process! Just keep thinking about how great being debt free will be! (:

CONGRATS!!!!! It sucks to cut things out BUT once you have paid off all that debt you can reward yourself with things that will feel even more special. We have no cc debt and it's seriously freeing! Debt free is awesome.

Keep on going!!

I so need to do this too. I've been thinking about it lately. (Also a shopaholic)

Great Job! I did that a few months ago. It was painful at the time, but it feels so good now to be closer to being debt free. Yay You

SO proud of you! That is the hardest step and the beginning feels like a major purification but it will pay off when you feel the burden of debt lift from your shoulders! :) Cheering for you!

O, I can't imagine. I have never let myself have a credit card because I know I would go crazy. It's something I've been considering lately, but I'm living on so little I don't know how I think I'd actually pay it off :/
But go you girl! Keep it up!

You go girl! I am doing the same thing. I've been two years without putting anything on a credit card, and it hasn't been easy...BUT it's been amazing all at the same time. You will eventually get used to not shopping and eating out, I promise. Just keep your goal in the back of your mind and know you are not alone ;) Booty fist pump shake comin' your way! ;)

This is so awesome! I really wish my husband and I would look into something like this but he is so stubborn and says "we don't need that." haha! We are doing okay but you know it could always be better!

I'm in the process of paying mine off too!

My FPU experience is great. My husband and I were never in debt, but we did FPU anyways, we've learned a lot from it (and continue to put away money!) -- and you will too. It will be a great experience -- even if it is hard. If you ever need support girl -- e-mal me or message me!

Bravo to you!!! :) I am hearing a lot about this credit card cut up.
